Not a post

This is not a post because I am not allowing myself to be busy with my blog until I have got the Jam Tarts website in a state of readiness. Self-inflicted punishment for tardiness.
But I’d like to wish you all a happy Monday, nonetheless :-)

home work

Only 6 more sleeps until our Open Day [for those of you in Cape Town, it's at 3 Leith Road, Constantia, from 10h00 to 15h00 this coming Saturday 4 August.]

We have lots of gorgeous new crochet-y things to put on show, and Megan has been busy with her unique illustrations and cards.

We are working with another local business Gift Gardens on this one, so even if you aren’t into mosaics and blankets and footstools, you can pick up beautiful and useful things for your garden – plants, herbs, flowers, pots, fairy lights, solar lamps, sky rockets, gardening gloves…

Today the mini mosaic mirrors I’ve been busy with are getting their final touches. In my kitchen. No room anywhere else. No space to cook supper. Oh, what a shame. (McDonald’s, anyone?)

Flowers and just one last lampshade

Isn’t it fabulous when things fall snugly into place? I heard about a book of crocheted flowers from a friend on facebook 5 days ago, I immediately ordered the book from Loot online, and on Thursday I had a note from the post office to say it was ready and waiting. Guess what I’ve been busy doing?…

Jan Ollis’s daisy pattern was perfect for my latest lampshade. And I promise this will be the last one I tell you about for a while, I’m sure you are getting sick of them!

Lampshade frame = R20 from Milnerton market — what a score!  I used 2 x 50g Vinni’s pure cotton in Natural and a bit of left-over sea-green for the flowers. Contrary to my own expectations, I am now perfectly comfortable crocheting directly onto a frame!!! Nifty tip = I spraypainted my frame with metallic copper first, it just gives a nice colour on the bits of metal that remain visible.

One Lovely Blog award :)

Mia, that lovely, funny, whacky hopped-up magpie over at Pepperbox Couture has nominated my blog for the One Lovely Blog award. How cool is that! Thank you, I love your blogs, too, and I love the philosophy behind your creations. I hope you go from strength to strength.

I am honoured to have this logo to display :-)

Ok, seven things about myself, and I promise I’ll be brief:

1. I avoid eating eggs because I hate those icky bits in the white, although I am able to put this out of my mind when I am offered cake.
2. I spent over two years in psychotherapy in my late 20s, and often feel that I should ask for my money back.
3. I have an unshakable conviction that I will win the lottery one day.
4. I am not a duvet person – I like sheets and blankets. A lot of people think this is stupid. I think they are stupid.
5. I do not like dogs. I was bitten by my uncle’s Alsatian when I was 14 and still have a scar on my shoulder to prove it. It could be due to that.
6. I am a Libran but I do not believe in astrology. The fact that I am unbalanced, shallow and frivolous is pure coincidence.
7. I had a breast reduction when I was 44. It was one of the best things I ever did. And the most painful.

Next – nominations for blogs that I follow, appreciating the effort that is put into them, not to mention the humour and wonderful ideas.
